Bleed Margins & Cutting Variances Guide

The bleed extends past the actual cutting boundaries of the template layout. Following these guidelines ensures that shifting during mechanical production will not leave unprinted white edges on your finished product.

What are the bleed margin requirements for custom packaging?
To protect your layout from running edge shifts, your uploaded design files must strictly adhere to our baseline bleed tolerances:

The 3mm Tolerance Rule: Because printing sheets pass through high-speed digital presses and mechanical cutting dies, a physical production variance of up to 3mm can occur during a run.

Background Requirements: To account for this shifting, any background colour, pattern texture, or full-bleed photography layer must completely fill the outer edge of the designated bleed line.

What to Exclude: Never place essential design elements, commercial text, or logos inside the bleed area. This zone is strictly reserved for extending background assets that can safely be trimmed away. Do not simply stop your background design exactly at the cut line.
